Our beers / Královské 12°
For the production of the bottom-fermented light lager Královské 12°, we chose a different mix of ingredients – in addition to barley malt, we also use wheat malt. However, it is not a typical wheat beer, but can rather be described as an Old Bohemian lager with the addition of wheat malt, which is reflected in a distinctive malty after-taste. Thanks to the lower degree of hopping, this lager is also distinguished by a weaker hop aroma. On the surface, Královské 12° is distinguished by a greater turbidity caused by the substances of wheat malt, and is also lighter than our Klíč 12°.
It produces a dense and durable head when tapped. The flavour of this beer heralds back to beers brewed hundreds of years ago, and we use it to commemorate the period when Charles IV reigned over the Czech lands. The nearby castle Ojvín (or Oybin) was a favourite residence of Charles IV when he and his royal entourage travelled through our region from Bezděz.
